General questions
Do I need an appointment for vehicle repairs?
We recommend booking an appointment so we can get your vehicle inspected as quickly as possible. For urgent problems, contact us and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Can you diagnose warning lights on my dashboard?
Yes. We have professional diagnostic equipment to investigate engine management lights, ABS, airbag and other vehicle warning lights and identify the cause of the problem.
How much does a diagnostic check cost?
The cost depends on the type of fault and the level of investigation required. We’ll explain the diagnostic charges beforehand and let you know if further testing is necessary.
Will you give me a price before carrying out repairs?
Yes. Once we’ve identified the problem, we’ll explain what needs attention and provide you with a repair estimate or quote before carrying out additional work.
What types of car repairs do you carry out?
Uneven tyre wear can be caused by incorrect tyre pressures, wheel alignment, worn suspension components or other mechanical issues. We can inspect your vehicle to help identify the cause.
What tyre pressure should I use?
We handle a wide range of mechanical and electrical repairs, including brakes, suspension, steering, exhausts, batteries, cooling systems, clutches and engine-related faults.
Will you replace parts just because a diagnostic scan shows a fault code?
No. A fault code doesn’t always mean that a particular component needs replacing. Where necessary, our technicians will carry out further testing to identify the actual cause of the fault before recommending repairs.
What happens if you find additional problems while repairing my car?
If we discover anything else that requires attention, we’ll contact you before carrying out additional work. We’ll explain the issue, advise how urgent it is and provide a price so you can decide how you’d like to proceed.
How long does an MOT take?
An MOT usually takes around 45–60 minutes. If we find any issues or your vehicle requires repairs, it may take a little longer.
Can I wait while my MOT is carried out?
Yes. You’re welcome to wait in our customer waiting area while we carry out your MOT. Most tests are completed within an hour.
When can I get my MOT?
You can have your MOT carried out up to one month (minus a day) before your current MOT expires and keep the same renewal date. You can also have an MOT carried out earlier, but your renewal date will change.
What happens if my vehicle fails its MOT?
If your vehicle fails, we’ll explain exactly why it failed and what needs to be repaired. As we carry out repairs on-site, we can provide you with a quote and, with your approval, carry out the necessary work before arranging a retest.
Do I need to bring anything with me for the MOT?
Usually, no documents are required. Simply bring your vehicle to us. If it’s the vehicle’s first MOT or there are unusual circumstances, additional documentation may sometimes be helpful.
Do you test vehicles with a minor advisory?
Yes. A minor defect or advisory does not result in an MOT failure. Your vehicle can still pass, but we’ll make you aware of anything that may need attention now or in the future.
Do you offer same-day MOT appointments?
Yes, same-day MOT appointments may be available, subject to availability. We recommend contacting us as early as possible to secure a suitable time.
How often should I get my car serviced?
Most vehicles should be serviced every 12 months or 10,000–12,000 miles, whichever comes first. However, this can vary depending on your vehicle and manufacturer recommendations.
What’s included in a car service?
This depends on the type of service required. A typical service includes an engine oil and oil filter change, along with checks of your brakes, tyres, fluids, lights, suspension and other important components.
What’s the difference between an interim and full service?
An interim service is a basic maintenance service suited to higher-mileage vehicles or between full services. A full service is more comprehensive and includes additional checks and replacement of serviceable items where required.
How long does a car service take?
A typical service takes around 1–2 hours, depending on the vehicle and the type of service being carried out. We’ll let you know if any additional work is recommended
Will you carry out repairs without asking me first?
No. If we find anything requiring additional work, we’ll contact you first, explain what we’ve found and provide a price. We’ll only proceed once you have authorised the work.
Can you service my car without affecting the manufacturer’s warranty?
Yes. Your vehicle does not necessarily have to be serviced by a main dealer to maintain its manufacturer warranty. We can service vehicles in accordance with the manufacturer’s servicing schedule and use parts and fluids of the appropriate specification.
Do you reset the service light and update the service history?
Yes. Where applicable, we can reset your vehicle’s service indicator after servicing and update the relevant service record. For vehicles with digital service histories, availability can depend on the manufacturer and system.
Are your technicians qualified and experienced?
Yes. Our experienced technicians work to professional standards and have the knowledge and equipment required to maintain and repair a wide range of vehicles.
Are you a DVSA-approved MOT testing station?
Yes. We are a DVSA-approved MOT testing station, with authorised MOT testers carrying out tests in accordance with DVSA requirements.
Can I leave my vehicle with you for the day?
Yes. You’re welcome to drop your vehicle off with us and collect it once the work has been completed. We’ll contact you when it’s ready.
Can you inspect a used car before I buy it?
Yes. We can carry out an inspection to help identify potential mechanical issues, wear or maintenance that may be required before you purchase a vehicle.
Do you use quality replacement parts?
Yes. We use quality replacement parts from trusted suppliers and can advise you on the most suitable options for your vehicle and budget.
Can you look after my car on an ongoing basis?
Absolutely. From routine maintenance and MOTs to repairs and fault finding, we can look after your vehicle throughout its ownership and help you stay on top of necessary maintenance.
What should I do if I'm unsure whether my car is safe to drive?
If you have concerns about your vehicle’s safety, contact us for advice. If there are serious symptoms such as braking problems, steering issues, overheating or unusual warning lights, avoid driving the vehicle until it has been assessed.

What tyre pressure should I use?
The correct pressure varies between vehicles and can usually be found in your vehicle handbook, inside the fuel filler flap or on a label around the driver’s door area. We can also check and adjust your tyre pressures for you.
Do new tyres need to be balanced?
Yes. Wheels should normally be balanced when new tyres are fitted. Correct balancing helps reduce steering vibration, improves driving comfort and can help prevent uneven tyre wear.
